Google API Services User Data Policy

Mile End Media Limited (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. This policy explains how our application accesses, uses, stores, and handles information obtained through Google API Services, in strict compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements.

1. Google User Data We Access

When you connect your Google Account to any Mile End Media product (“the Service”), our application may request access to specific data via Google OAuth scopes. The specific types of Google user data accessed depend on the features you explicitly enable and authorize.

This policy is estate-wide: it applies to every Mile End Media product that connects to a Google Account, and “the Service” means whichever of them you are using, applied to each separately.

This data may include:

  • Profile Information: Basic profile details (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) to authenticate your account.

We only request access to the minimum set of permissions (scopes) necessary to provide and improve our service features.

2. How We Use Google User Data

We use user data obtained via Google APIs exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Providing and Maintaining the Service: To deliver the core features and functionality of the Service requested by the user.
  • Authentication and Security: To securely verify user identity and prevent unauthorized access to user accounts.
  • Customer Support: To troubleshoot technical issues and respond to user requests or feedback.

We do not use Google user data for:

  • Serving advertisements (including personalized or retargeted ads).
  • Selling user data to data brokers, advertising networks, or third parties.
  • Training machine learning or artificial intelligence models without your explicit, separate consent.

3. Storage, Retention, and Protection of Data

We employ industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to safeguard your Google user data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

  • Storage & Encryption: All data transferred between our servers and Google APIs is encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Any Google data retained on our servers is encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption standards (e.g., AES-256).
  • Data Retention: We retain Google user data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or until you disconnect your Google Account from our service.
  • Data Deletion: You may revoke our application's access to your Google Account at any time via your Google Account Third-Party Access Settings. Upon account deletion or scope revocation, all associated Google user data is permanently deleted from our primary databases.

4. Google API Limited Use Disclosure

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use Requirements:

  1. Specific Purpose: We only use Google API data to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the application's user interface.
  2. Transfer Restrictions: We do not transfer Google API user data to third parties unless:
    • It is necessary to provide or improve user-facing features (e.g., to a cloud hosting provider assisting in delivering our service);
    • Required by applicable law or regulation; or
    • Part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to prior user notice.
  3. No Advertising Use: We never transfer or use Google user data for serving advertisements, interest-based targeting, or retargeting.
  4. Human Inspection Limitations: Human employees or contractors do not read user data obtained from Google APIs unless:
    • We have obtained your explicit consent to inspect specific data for troubleshooting purposes;
    • It is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse or a security incident);
    • It is necessary to comply with legal obligations; or
    • The data is aggregated and anonymized for internal technical operations.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

Except as specified in Section 4 above, we do not share, sell, rent, or trade user data obtained from Google API Services with any third parties under any circumstances. Any third-party service providers (such as infrastructure hosts) processing data on our behalf are strictly bound by confidentiality agreements and security standards at least as stringent as this policy.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our operational practices, legal requirements, or Google API policy updates. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document or via a direct notice within the application.
